Mariah Carey is reportedly still fuming with American Idol producers for trying to win Nicki Minaj to sign a contract, as she is worried the Young Money rapper will “upstage” her.

The ‘Triumphant (Get em)’ singer was announced as a judge on the talent show earlier this month, becoming the first judge to take up a seat on the new-look panel following the departures of Jennifer Lopez, Steve Tyler and Randy Jackson.

‘Starships’ rapper Nicki was then rumoured to be in talks with producers to join Mariah, however, the Grammy award-winning diva was said to be furious with the new addition as she doesn’t want another diva seated next to her.

“Mariah is not happy about the idea of Nicki being on the show,” an insider told The Sun.

“She wanted to be the only woman on the panel. And she certainly doesn’t want to work with a woman who is younger than her and could try and upstage her.”
